Shannon P. Buck, DO

2017-2018 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Shannon P Buck, DOShannon P. Buck, DO is a board-certified dermatologist. He received his undergraduate from the United States Air Force Academy. He went on to receive his medical degree from A.T. Still University Kirsksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Buck completed his internship at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, and Dermatology residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Health Services Consortium in San Antonio, TX.

Dr. Buck has served as a flight surgeon for the U.S Air Force in Qatar, Crete, Japan and Singapore. In addition, Dr. Buck served as the physician member investigating the medical and human factors for an Air Force drone crash, a Dermatology resident representative for Operation Beyond the Horizon, a medical humanitarian mission in Guatemala, and as a counselor at Camp Discovery, a summer camp for children with dermatologic conditions.

Outside of work, Dr. Buck enjoys spending time with his wife, tennis, golf, hiking and traveling.

Ali M. Rkein, MD

Ali M. Rkein, MDAli M. Rkein, MD is a board-certified dermatologist. He received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Arizona State University. He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. After graduation, Dr. Rkein completed his internship at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, and Dermatology residency at the Henry Ford Medical Center, serving as chief resident during his final year of Dermatology training.

Dr. Rkein is passionate about research. He has authored several book chapters and journal articles covering topics in the field of general dermatology, dermatologic surgery and lasers. Additionally, he has been invited and presented at the national level at the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology.

Outside of work, Dr. Rkein enjoys spending time with his wife and son, traveling, hiking, reading, and cooking.


Zain U. Syed, MD, MBA

2015-2016 Fellow

Dr. Zain U. SyedDr. Zain Syed is a board certified dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate work at Johns Hopkins University School of Engineering in Baltimore, MD, earning a double major in electrical engineering and computer engineering. He went on to attend the University of Baltimore where he earned a MBA in 2006 and the University of Virginia where he completed his medical education in 2010. Dr. Syed’s post-graduate training includes a clinical research fellowship in photodermatology at Henry Ford Medical Center (Detroit, MI), an internship in internal medicine at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center (Baltimore, MD), a dermatology residency at University of Maryland (Baltimore, MD), where he served as Dermatology Chief Resident during his final year.

Dr. Syed has published many articles in professional journals about dermatologic conditions. He has presented studies and scientific papers at various national and international professional meetings, including the World Congress of Dermatology.

Dr. Syed’s hobbies include football, badminton, squash, skiing, origami, water sports and video editing.


Joseph A. Blackmon, MD

2014-2015 Fellow, Specializing In Mohs And Dermatologic Surgery

Dr. Joseph A. BlackmonDr. Blackmon is a board certified dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate studies in chemistry at the University of Louisville receiving Magna Cum Laude honors. He completed his medical education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine where he merited Alpha Omega Alpha distinctions. A transitional internship was done at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. Dr. Blackmon’s residency in dermatology was completed at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

Dr. Blackmon has published numerous articles in professional journals and has presented various oral and poster presentations at several professional conferences. He also volunteers in community events.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Blackmon joined Dermatology Associates of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.


Anis Miladi, MD

2013-2014 Fellow, Specializing In Mohs And Dermatologic Surgery

Dr. Anis MiladiDr. Miladi is a board certified dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wright State University, Dayton, OH. He attended Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, Dayton, OH and completed an internship in internal medicine at the Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, VA. After his internship, Dr. Miladi practiced as a Flight Surgeon with the Marines. He then continued his medical studies and completed a residency in dermatology at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC Dr. Miladi practiced general dermatology at the Naval Hospital Pensacola, FL for several years prior to joining Dayton Skin Care Specialists.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Miladi along with wife and two sons moved to Virginia. Dr. Miladi is currently practicing as a Mohs Surgeon in Portsmouth and will fulfill his service with the United States Navy in 2019.


Brian Pucevich, MD

2012-2013 Fellow, Specializing In Mohs And Dermatologic Surgery

Dr. Brian PucevichDr. Brian Pucevich is a board certified dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN. He completed his medical education at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington DC and an internship in internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburg, PA. Following his internship, Dr. Pucevich secured a cutaneous T-cell lymphoma research fellowship at the University of Pittsburg, Pittsburg, PA. Dr. Pucevich’s residency in dermatology was completed at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Pucevich has published many articles and presented at several dermatology meetings. His interests include cycling, photography and piano.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Pucevich along with his wife and two children returned to Pennsylvania to be closer to family. He currently practices at the Dermatology Associates of Western Pennsylvania, Inc.


Jason Litak, MD

Dr. Jason LitakDr. Litak is a board certified dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate work in physiology and neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego, earning Magna Cum Laude honors. He completed his medical education at the University of California, Los Angeles and an internship in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Litak’s residency in dermatology was completed at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL where he served as Chief Resident Dermatology during his final year.

Dr. Litak has published many articles and presented at several dermatology meetings. His clinical research interests are in Mohs surgery, facial reconstructive surgery, cutaneous oncology, and procedural dermatology.

Following his fellowship, Dr. Litak joined Kaiser Permanente, Woodland Hills, CA for two years. He is currently practicing at Santa Monica Dermatology Medical Group in Santa Monica, CA.


Susan L. Boone, MD, MPH

Dr. Susan L. BooneDr. Boone is a board certified dermatologist. She attended Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, where she completed her residency in dermatology and a clinical research fellowship. Dr. Boone has received high honors such as Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, department highest honors from the University of California Los Angeles, the American Society Dermatologic Surgery Preceptorship Award in 2009, as well as Women’s Dermatologic Society Mentorship Award in 2009.

Following her fellowship with Dayton Skin Surgery Center, Dr. Boone joined Kaiser in Sacramento, CA. She also serves as clinical faculty at the UC Davis Department of Dermatology.

Dr. Boone is well published in professional journals and textbooks about dermatologic conditions. She has presented various studies, posters, and scientific papers at national professional meetings.


Joseph W. McGowan, IV MD

2009-2010 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Joseph W. McGowanDr. McGowan is a board certified dermatologist. He attended the Medical University of South Carolina, where he completed his residency in dermatology. Dr. McGowan received numerous scholarships for his academic achievements. He received the Resident Recognition Award at the 10th Annual Caribbean Dermatology Symposium.

Dr. McGowan splits his practice time between Charleston, South Carolina as a Mohs surgeon with Germain Dermatology and Dayton Skin Surgery Center.

Dr. McGowan has authored numerous articles and has lectured at many national professional meetings on skin cancer and reconstructive techniques.
He actively volunteers in community events. His many interests include piano and music composition.


Arianne Chavez-Frazier, MD

Dr. Arianne Chavez-FrazierDr. Chavez-Frazier is a board certified dermatologist. She attended the University of Texas in Houston, where she completed her residency in dermatology, after which she did a clinical research fellowship in psoriasis and phototherapy at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Chavez-Frazier has received high honors such as Magna Cum Laude of her 1999 class at Rice University, the Distinguished Minority Student Scholar Award, and numerous scholarships for her academic achievements.

Dr. Frazier is currently practicing as a Mohs surgeon with Park Avenue Dermatology in Jacksonville, FL.

Dr. Chavez-Frazier has written over twenty articles in professional journals and textbooks about Dermatologic conditions. She has also presented various studies, posters, and scientific papers at various national professional meetings.


Thomas Lewis, MD

Dr. Thomas LewisDr. Lewis is a board certified dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate and medical education at The Ohio State University earning Summa Cum Laude and Magna Cum Laude honors respectively. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Societies. Dr. Lewis completed his internship and dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. He served as Chief Resident during his final year of training. For his academic excellence, he was awarded with an International elective rotation in London, England.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Lewis along with his wife and three children remained in the area to be close to family and friends. He currently practices with Adena Health Systems in Chillicothe, Ohio and serves as curriculum advisor and faculty member for the Dayton Skin Surgery Center Fellowship Program.

Dr. Lewis has published several scholarly articles and presented at numerous national meetings, including the annual American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Meetings.


Richard Krathen, MD

2006-2007 Fellow, Dayton Skin Surgery Center

Dr. Richard KrathenDr. Krathen is a board certified dermatologist. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX where he also completed his residency in dermatology. Dr. Krathen received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Alpha Omega Alpha Award and Honors in Basic Science from the Baylor College of Medicine.

After completing his fellowship in July 2007, Dr. Krathen returned to Southern Florida, along with his wife and two daughters, to be closer to family. He currently practices with RK Dermatology in Palm Beach Gardens and Palm City, FL.


Ravi S. Krishnan, MD

Dr. Ravi S. KrishnanDr. Krishnan is a board certified dermatologist. He completed his undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston, TX and graduated Cum Laude with degrees in chemical engineering and biochemistry. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and was awarded the Deborah Kalter Award for Outstanding Medical Student in Dermatology. Dr. Krishnan, then completed an internship in internal medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. Dr. Krishnan returned to Houston, TX and Baylor College of Medicine where he completed his residency in dermatology in 2005 and received the W.P. Johnson Memorial Award for Outstanding Resident in Dermatology.

Dr. Krishnan is a Mohs surgeon with Virginia Mason Medical Center, a multi-specialty practice in Seattle, WA.


Ruchik Desai, MD

Dr. Ruchik DesaiDr. Desai is a board certified dermatologist. He has a BA in business economics and biology, attended Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN and completed his residency in dermatology at Wright State University in Dayton, OH.

Dr. Desai has spent time in several leadership roles for the American Medical Association Medical Students Section at a state and national level. In addition, he is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa.

Dr. Desai is the Director of Northern Indiana Dermatology located in Portage, IN. He is also the Assistant Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Indiana University.

Dr. Desai has published numerous articles in professional journals and textbooks about dermatology and dermatologic surgery.
